Comments:I'm surprised you don;t have a listing for Canadian Bacon, which has Canadians in it (such as John Candy) and was partially filmed in Canada. Not to mention the plot of the U.S. going to war with Canada.

Comments:Being a HUGE fan of Roy Dupuis (my utmost favourite actor) I am wondering why none of his films are featured in the Canadian Film Directory! Also, in general, I find that French-Canadian films are not well covered at all.
I've been trying to rent-out/buy movies/TV series with M. Dupuis (on DVD or VHS) in the greater Toronto area, but with little success.
I wish someone could assist me with this. Any suggestions -
anyone?

Comments:Since discovering him on La Femme Nikita (filmed in Toronto!)Roy Dupuis has become my favorite actor and love for his work has introduced me to Canadian films.

I just purchased Les Filles de Caleb and I'm frantically looking to buy the sequel called Blanche--but can't find it for sale anywhere.

My search for Blanche landed me here. Love your site--looking for Canadian movies to watch now. :)

Comments:How about reviewing TREED MURRAY? You might want to review this soon, seeing how the same writer/director not only has another Canadian movie coming out this year, but that movie (FOOLPROOF, with Ryan Reynolds) is going to have a major release. The distributor is going to spend $2 million on marketing (a record for a Canadian film), and it's going to be released to over 200 theaters, just like a Hollywood blockbuster.

Comments:Sure am glad to see you're back on after a long break.

It's a sad, sad state of affairs as I see failure after failure championed as a success here in the Canadian film "industry".

Ah, yes -- our invisible cinema. Public disinterest and disdain, millions thrown away on selfish, delusional projects. Hardly any lasting art created or even, at least, practical commerce. Something to be proud of.

But I am so glad, so very glad, that at least one masked man is unafraid to tell it like it is.

Yours in unlikeable characters and belly button gazing,

Trev M.

Comments:This is a great guide and it's easy to navigate. I've noticed there's no ENG review (remember the TV series that ran for five seasons back in 1989 to 1994, with Art Hindle and Sara Botsford)? It was one of my favourite Canadian TV series.

Rachael Crawford is one of my favourite actresses. If you have any info on her most recent work or if she has some sort of fan club please let me know, it would be greatly appreciated.

Comments:Cool site but in your review of Trailer Park Boys you said "the series is definitely fringe material, unlikely to garner a large fandom," - now that it's the biggest show in Canada do you want to rethink that?

Comments:To revitalize Canadian TV drama will take more than pressing the CRTC to impose new quotas on the networks. Production companies are finding it harder than ever to raise money for dramas for several reasons:

(1) Severely declining foreign sales in recent years. Other countries are now making more of their "own" dramas, and are either not buying Hollywood or Canadian drama, or will only buy them cheaply to put in late-night slots. Alliance/Atlantis has freely admitted that they are getting away from producing homegrown drama (having already slashed their production of it severely) because of the prospect of limited (if any) returns, and are instead focusing on kid shows and documentaries.

(2) The cuts at the Canadian Film/Television Fund. No doubt you have heard of the recent $25 million cut, that has already resulted in the cancellation of several Canadian shows. Even companies like Alliance/Atlantis have had to rely on this fund to fully raise the budgets of their shows, with foreign and domestic sales alone unable to give their investment a profit.

Though even if the Film/Television Fund is restored to its past level, the dismal foreign market situation is still going to be a problem.

Comments:PLEASE!!! help me, I remember a TV show from when I was a little kid in the 80's called Kid Vid, it was a kids dance show and every episode this dude would come out and sing this "I am the computer man" song. Nobody remembers it but me and my sister, and there's no reference to it anywhere on the internet, I'm worried I might be insane and imagined it. Please send any information about this, like how to find episodes or what station it aired on.
P.S.

Comments:I love this site. I am an American who only recently discovered the wonderful world of Canadian tv! My favorite so far has been the Criminal instincts series with Wendy Crewson. I was already a rabid fan of Gail Bowen's novels and was shocked to find one of the movies one day on Lifetime TV here in the U.S.

Does anyone know if there are any immediate plans to make more movies based on Gail Bowen's novels? There are 2 or 3 more in the series.
