The Great Canadian
Guide to the Movies
(and TV)
Welcome one and all to The Great Canadian Guide to the Movies (and
TV).
circa 1998-2018
After much hand-wringing and soul-searching, I've decided to acknowledge the site is more an archive than an active concern these days. After watching n' reviewing literally thousands of movies and TV series, time, health, and personal issues have kind of made it impossible to keep it properly up-dated, what with new productions constantly being released. Once you start falling behind...well, you know that famous scene from I Love Lucy with the conveyor belt at the chocolate factory? Yeah, it's kind of like that. So though I will continue to add reviews, the site will increasingly be less than comprehensive. So better to acknowledge that up-front.
Now, with that said (shameless plug time) some selected film & TV essays of mine have been collected in a book -- Screaming into the Pillow -- available from Amazon. If you like opinionated pop cultural essays, have enjoyed my writings, or simply want to show a little support for this site that's been (I hope) a valuable resource over the years -- you might consider buying a copy.
