"Chris
Burdett lives in Madison, Georgia, with his wife Anna and their six
cats, Seuss, Lilly, Jupiter, Tesseract, Luna, and Josey. He has a B.A.
inEnglish from Georgia State University and an M.A. in Professional
Writing from Kennesaw State University; he’s now about half-way through
his MFA in
Creative Writing at Georgia College & State University, where, as a
Teaching Fellow, he teaches two undergraduate English courses per
semester. Before returning to academia full-time, he spent fourteen
years in the computer education field, where he worked variously as a
technical writer and editor, product development manager, systems
analyst, software engineer, and web developer.
"This appearance in Pulp and Dagger
marks Chris’s sixteenth published short story; he’s also published
stories in magazines with such cool titles as The Ecphorizer, The Agincourt Irregular, and Blue Murder.
"Chris’s influences are as diverse as Lloyd Alexander, Clifford D.
Simak, Daniel Pinkwater, John Steinbeck, Kurt Vonnegut, Vladimir
Nabokov, Robert A. Heinlein, Bruce Coville, and many others, and, of
course, the pulps--before returning to the state of near-poverty that
full-time graduate studies and
part-time teaching entails, he was trying to assemble a collection of
all 99 issues of STARTLING STORIES.
"Finally, Chris has, as should now be apparent, a great zeal for
writing about himself in the third person."
